FAQ

WHAT IS A DMC?

A DMC, or Destination Management Company, is essentially a travel agency – but think of it as a travel agency on a triple espresso. A DMC does more than just book itineraries, we specialize in services focused on corporate event planning and providing logistical support for groups, organizations, and businesses. Our strengths lie in blending in-depth local knowledge and personalized planning to ensure a seamless and memorable experience.

WHY SHOULD I WORK WITH A DMC?

My event moves to a different city each year’, ‘I don’t know this city very well’, or ‘I’ve never had any problems before!’, may all be thoughts that are running through your head right now. While this is probably true, there are always many details to consider. Have there been any changes to your normal venue? Is it under construction? Any new laws that may have passed that could affect you event? Any local places that may have closed down, moved, or new locations that may have opened? How do your event-goers feel about the events you’ve thrown in the past? Are you going to be dealing with a larger crowd, new aspects, or any other changes this year? Working with a local DMC can help you make sure that you have all those picky little details under control — and the large ones as well. After all, events are a huge undertaking — why not use every resource you can to make sure your event is the best it can be?

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN EVENT PLANNER AND A DMC?

In general terms, an event planner plans events; a meeting planner plans meetings. A DMC, though, does a litany of things: event/program design, tour/excursion planning, logistics planning, transportation management, service oversight, supplier management, and accounting. In other words, a DMC’s expert team will customize a full program from start to finish, utilizing the best resources the location has to offer and drawing on the unique features of the city or town to make the experience effective, memorable and fun for all involved. While meeting and event planners are adept at putting together the nuts and bolts of a gathering, the element of destination management fills in all the gaps from beginning to end — local tours between meetings, transportation to and from the airport, partnerships with the best local eateries, tourist attractions and more.
